Clay Control
Chloride-free clay and shale stabiliser. Reduces the ability for clays to stick together by suppressing hydration and preventing swelling.
APPLICATIONS
Clay Control works well in oil and gas, geothermal, waterwell, HDD and diamond coring applications.
Clay Control reduces the absorption of water in shale formations during drilling. This helps minimise bit balling to the drill string and drill bit. It works by absorbing onto active clay solids, reducing their water sensitivity.
This product works like potassium chloride (KCl) to stop reactive clays from swelling, sluffing or breaking down. KCl is highly effective at keeping clays stable but contains chloride, which can harm the environment.
Clay Control does the same job without using chloride. When combined with Swell Stop, Clay Control stops the clay from swelling, and the Swell Stop wraps around the clay particles. This combination helps smooth the drilling process and reduces problems caused by reactive clays.
